  1. BUBBLES ARE EVERYTHING

All kids love to play with bubbles. When the weather is warm, send those kiddos outside for some sunshine and bubble play.

Switch it up every few days by bringing out a bubble maker, giant bubble wands, or fun bubble necklaces.

Bubbles are one of those summertime investments that are just 100% worth it. Here are some fun bubble play purchases that are worth their weight in gold:

  1. TAPE THE BUBBLES DOWN

My toddler is the king of dumping out the bubbles during playtime (and then getting mad at himself).

So, my husband came up with the brilliant idea of taping the bubble container to a post, so that the bubbles can’t spill out.

Brilliant!

  1. POPSICLE PROTECTORS

Cut a tiny hole in a paper cupcake holder and slip the bottom of the Popsicle stick through.

The cupcake holder will catch any of the melting liquid and will keep your finnicky toddlers from melting down because of sticky hands.

  1. EASY WATER BLASTERS

These things are LIFE SAVERS for busy moms in the summer!

Instead of buying water guns that require mom’s help refilling the water, these easy-to-use water blasters are super easy for kids to fill, use, and refill… on their own.

Even my two-year-old can use them without help, and the kids have soooo much fun with them!

  1. BABY POWDER AT THE BEACH

If you plan on taking the kids to the beach this summer, don’t forget the baby powder.

Anytime you or the kids have wet sand on you, just sprinkle a little baby powder onto your skin, and the wet sand will slide right off.

Pain free for diaper changes too. This talc-free baby powder is the kind we use!

  1. SAND FREE BEACH BLANKETS

Another beach day must-have: blankets that don’t attract sand.

It’s hard enough keeping sand out of everybody’s eyes and food all day. Keeping it off the beach blanket does NOT need to be hard.

We use this JJ Cole beach blanket that is water-resistant, lightweight, easy to fold and carry, and does not attract sand.

A large beach blanket that doesn’t attract sand will make your beach days so much easier this summer!

  1. ICE ICE BABY

Ice cubes will be a big hit with the kiddos during hot, sunny days!

They’re fun to play with, fun to crunch on, and they’ll keep you cool too.

You can freeze a bunch of ice cubes in fun shapes, pour them into bowls, and let the kids have a blast.

Fun games for kids to play with ice:

– Use a small spoon to transfer cubes from one bowl of icy water to another. Set the timer for 60 seconds and see who can transfer the most cubes.

– Have an ice race. Slide large ice cubes across a hot, flat space (like a patio table or driveway). See whose ice cube goes farther before melting.

– Build ice structures or ice pyramids

– Use food coloring to create rainbow ice

  1. COVER BUG BITES WITH TAPE

Once upon a time, I was camping with friends and had no bug spray or bite relief.

Mosquitoes LOVE me, so I got tore uppppppppp (my back was covered in huge welts).

One friend told me that putting tape over the bite would stop the itching. I tried it, and it worked!

Now, while I usually try to PREVENT the bug bites from happening, I also don’t mind going back to my scotch tape trick anytime a bug decides to bite me.

Another alternative: Chemical free bug bite relief from ‘Bug Bite Thing’.

  1. SKIP THE OVEN

Instead of heating up the house by cooking dinner in the oven, use a small portable grill and do your cooking in the back yard or on the patio during hot days.

Or, just stick with cold foods: sandwiches, ceviche, pastas, salads!

  1. USE A MESH BAG FOR BEACH TOYS

Y’all know how much I rave about mesh bags for alllll things that mom needs to get done.

Instead of hauling a bunch of sandy beach toys home, use a mesh bag for the sand toys. Just shake everything out before you leave the beach!
